Some of our hardworking Year 9 pupils were excited to go on a 'Go Sail' trip yesterday. The trip comprised of two parts, the first was a visit to the Land Rover BAR where they were taught about the technologies used and developed for Ben Ainsley's sailing team for the America's cup. They experienced how some of these technologies are used. Pupils made a sail (called a wing) and then tested it in a wind tunnel to see how the shape of the wing affects the performance of the boat. They benefited from a unique behind-the-scenes experience with hands-on interactive exhibits, close contact with the boats, people, and technologies that allow the Land Rover BAR team to fly faster and sail smarter! If this wasn't enough the second part of the trip involved Year 9 pupils sailing for real at Portsmouth Water Sports Centre. It was an interesting and motivating afternoon out and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. These trips will continue until half term.
