Springfield School has been partnered with Krupp Gymnasium in Duisburg as part of a Solent Language initiative to drive forward German language learning in the Portsmouth area. The Duisberg school has been chosen to acknowledge the 75th anniversary of the twinning of the cities of Portsmouth and Duisburg. Year 9 German students in Springfield were excited to receive their first letter from the partner school last week. It is my sincere hope that this initial exchange of letters will boost students' communication skills, as well as their understanding of the relevance and value of learning German as a GCSE subject.
