FAQs
How do I raise any queries or issues regarding the construction project?
KIER’s team is on site during the works and have asked that people speak to them directly; please do not contact the school. KIER’s site office is accessible via Grove Road (and not via the school/Scholars’ Walk entrance).
How do I find out more general information about the construction project?
KIER will shortly be launching a project microsite (website) that will be available to the public. The school will publish the link here when It has been received.
How will the construction project affect noise levels, particularly during students’ GCSE exams?
Throughout the planning process (and on an ongoing basis now that site works have commenced), the school has raised this important issue; and the GCSE exam programme has been shared with KIER’s project team. The DfE and KIER have stated that they will take all reasonable measures to reduce noise and disruption at these key times.
How is traffic and footfall being managed now that all students have to use the Scholars’ Walk (Central Road) gate only?
The school has written to all parents and carers requesting that they refrain from using Central Road for drop off/pick up if they need to use their car. The Council has indicated that they will support the school over time with enforcement measures.
Has the school day been affected?
Not at this time. Period 5 finishes at 14:45, with learning intervention continuing until 15:00; in the morning students should be on site by 08:30 for registration at 08:35. If changes are required to the school day, then the school will write formally to parents/carers to inform them of this.
