We went to the annual meeting of the City Council at the Guildhall to see the Mayor Making Ceremony.  The retiring Lord Mayor made his speech and even shed a tear nearing the end.  The new Mayor was elected and the Council voted to say thanks to the old Mayor.  The keys to the City and Portsmouth Sword were presented to the new Mayor.  Everyone sang the national anthem and then left.  After that we were treated to cake from Sainsburys.
