We have been informed of the launch of the Lurking Trolls Campaign.  This is aimed at younger children but might be useful for our Year 7 pupils and families.  Please read below details of the campaign:

PSCP Safeguarding Partnership have created a dedicated website to support this campaign. You can find it at www.lurkingtrolls.com. There is lots of fun content to support children's learning around online safety. It also has lots of tips and information about online safety for children and their parents/carers. On the site, you'll find:

  • Narrated version of books: providing universal and independent access to the books and supporting children with visual impairments and reading difficulties.
  • Trolls animations: these amazing cartoons have been produced by Rival Animation and each episode supports the key messages of the campaign. They can be watched in class or independently at home.
  • Trolls music: a fun (age appropriate) playlist of the trolls favourite songs.
  • Troll files: a fun fact file about each troll to help recognise troll behaviour.

PSCP say "Meet the Lurking Trolls! An army of gruesome characters that we're using to help children in key stage 2 learn how to spend time online safely.

The internet should be a fun, safe space to explore, engage with friends and learn more about the world. However, we know that children may come across harmful, confusing or even dangerous things online. We want children to know what to do if something goes wrong and how to recover from any difficulties or upsets.

The Local Safeguarding Children Partnership has developed the trolls campaign - with a book, website and videos - to help children aged 7 to 11 learn about online safety and to help schools, parents and carers have meaningful conversations about difficult topics.

Children can explore more at www.lurkingtrolls.com - listen to a narrated version of the book Peril of the Possessed Pets, look at fun fact files about the trolls and watch trolls cartoons. There is also lots of information and advice for parents and carers as well at www.lurkingtrolls.com. You can find out more about how to talk to your child about online safety, how to help them stay safe online, and what to do if something goes wrong. We hope you find the trolls helpful and entertaining!"
