A group of Year 10 pupils took part in a workshop today to learn about a mentoring programme facilitated by an organisation called The Girls’ Network. The scheme pairs up each pupil with a local professional to act as their personal mentor. The mentor will work with pupils over several months to support them in many aspects, such as academic progress and general well-being. Other aims include helping pupils to build their self-confidence, access careers advice and explore aspirations to set and achieve their own goals.
Pupils learned that The Girls’ Network engages with over 1200 girls across the country, including about 100 pupils in Portsmouth. They found out how they can apply to be part of the Network, which they could continue to call upon for support and advice long after they have left Springfield.
