Families will recall that on 17 December (the penultimate day of last term), the Government announced that it would like to roll out mass testing of pupils in schools this term.  Given this week's lockdown announcement the programme is likely to be scaled down.  The school's position remains that we would like to support this intervention, but the governing body will need assurance that the correct equipment, training, staff and other resources are in place to satisfy an appropriate risk assessment before this is conducted at school.  Staff are currently reviewing operational materials from the DFE that have recently been posted online; some equipment, including PPE, has been delivered this week.  We will write to parents/carers with further information prior to commencing any on-site testing programme.  A leaflet to explain testing to pupils and parents is available via: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/asymptomatic-testing-in-schools-and-colleges
