Information for Schools – Update from our Principal and Chief Executive Andrew Kaye

I hope you and your school communities are well.

I wanted to update you on how Fareham College is working to support your Year 11 students’ transition to college. Please do disseminate this within your school as you see appropriate.

Applications

We are still accepting applications for full-time courses starting in September 2020, including the new T Level qualifications in Digital Design, Production and Development and Education and Childcare.

Students who have applied and are awaiting their interview

Our Careers Centre Team will contact each student and conduct their college interview by telephone. Intro Sessions are cancelled for the foreseeable future, so after their interview, if successful, students will receive their conditional offer to attend the College by email. Please can you ask your teams to encourage students to answer all calls, so we can secure them a place as soon as possible.

Students who have already received conditional offers

For students who have already received a conditional offer from the College, their place is reserved for them. Students will receive their invites for enrolment during the summer term. We are looking at revising this process should we find ourselves in a prolonged period of social distancing, so not to disadvantage students in preparation for a September start. Any revised procedures or timings for enrolment will be communicated to students by email, on our website and through social media.

Your College Project

Students will shortly receive details of their college projects from our Careers Centre Team which they can work on to help them to prepare for their transition to College. Please ask your teams to encourage completion of these projects, as it ensures we offer the most suitable provision to each individual student in September.

Resources to assist transition to the College

We have prepared a booklet with information to assist your Year 11 students with their successful transition to College. This will be emailed out to all Year 11 students who have applied, whether they have a conditional offer, or are awaiting interview and will also be uploaded to our website. I have also attached it to this email as you may wish to include this resource on your website and/or in communications with your Year 11 students.
