The latest advice from the government for the public is updated regularly and contains links to further information:

New guidance was issued yesterday:

-if you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started

-if you live with others and you or another member of the household have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community

-for anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14-day isolation period.

The symptoms are:

  • A high temperature (37.8 degrees and above)
  • A new, continuous cough

The full stay at home guidance for households with these symptoms can be found here:

  • Please do not contact the school for medical advice.  Please contact the school (Mrs Evans in the Welfare Office) if you need to inform us, having taken appropriate advice from the NHS, if there are any concerns regarding your child's health and/or if they are self-isolating.
  •
  • The UK Government's planning assumptions include the possibility of having to close educational settings.  Current advice is that schools should remain open.
  •
  • If the school is asked to close, Teachers will endeavour to set work for pupils to complete using the Google Classroom system.  Please support staff by ensuring that your child has and keeps safe any passwords that they may need for this or other software packages.
  •
  • If staff numbers fall, for example due to self-isolation under the revised requirements, the school may have to partially close in order to function safely.  In such circumstances, GCSE Year Groups will be as protected as far as possible.  Please check the school website and news feed regularly for updates.
  •
  • The school trips to Germany (19th June) and France-Disney (16th July) remain under review; they are likely to be cancelled unless the Government advice changes again in the next few weeks. The school theatre trip to London (departing 22nd March) has been cancelled. The English Literature Masterclass trip to the University of Portsmouth (departing 25th March) has been cancelled.

  • Please continue to emphasise the importance of good hygiene to your child as per the NHS advice.  If they notice any problem with the handwashing facilities at school, they should report this immediately to a member of staff.
