Dear Parents/Carers

We are aware that, as part of the Government's Coronavirus action plan, options include the possibility of closing educational settings in order to reduce the spread of infection. 

If the Government does require Springfield School to close at any time, we will alert families of this immediately using our electronic systems and then update them on the ongoing situation via our website.  

While we hope that the school does not have to close, staff are preparing plans in case we do.  If the school closes, Teachers will endeavour to set work for pupils to complete using the Google Classroom System.  The lessons set will match each pupil's usual timetable.  Teachers are reminding pupils of the importance of having and keeping safe any passwords that they will need for this and other software programs that they might use, e.g. Hegarty Maths.  We would be grateful if parents/carers could support the school by also emphasising the importance of this to their child/ren. 

In addition to this, we would recommend that GCSE pupils focus on their revision materials and that pupils read for an hour a day.  BBC Bitesize remains a very resource rich website for all subjects which pupils will find useful.  Pupils are familiar with using Hegarty Maths and also the website 'Sparknotes' is useful for English Literature. 

We appreciate that families will have concerns regarding this issue, particularly the potential impact on pupils taking their GCSEs this year.  The current advice to the school is to stay open as usual, which we will do until directed otherwise. The school will advise you if this changes and of any further information as it is made available.  

In the meantime we would politely ask that parents/carers do not contact the school regarding this issue, but check the website for updates.  This is to ensure that staff can focus on managing school and this changing situation as effectively as possible.  Thank you for your understanding regarding this.
