We are continuing to keep you updated on the government's advice and the school's response to Coronavirus.  Public Health England advises that the risk to individuals in the UK remains low.

We are aware that some families have expressed concern and raised queries regarding the ski trip that returned from Champoluc on 19th February 2020.  The trip did not go to the specific 'lock down' areas of Italy.  Nevertheless, the school took advice from Public Health England South East which has been shared with all returnees' families and the broader community.

Public Health England advised the following for participants in the Champoluc trip:

  • Returnees who have respiratory symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, fever) should not come to school, should self-isolate at home and call NHS 111 for advice.
  • Returnees who have no respiratory symptoms (asymptomatic) are able to attend school as normal and do not need to self-isolate. If they develop symptoms within 14 days of return travel, they should self-isolate at home and call NHS 111 for advice.

We have been reassured that the risk to individuals remains low and that no other specific action is required at this time.  Like all schools, we are continuously monitoring the situation,  If, for any reason, the advice changes from Public Health England, we will update the community accordingly.  We would ask all families to update the school if, having taken the appropriate advice from the NHS, there are any concerns regarding their child's health.

The NHS is recommending simple steps that we should all be taking to prevent the spread of infections such as colds, flu or coronavirus.  It would be helpful if parents/carers could reinforce these with their child/children.

Do:

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately
  • wash your hands with soap and water often - use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

Don't:

  • touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

Thank you
