EMAIL SENT ON BEHALF OF ALISON HEYDARI, HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY LEAD FOR HATE CRIME

Dear All,

I am sure you will join me in expressing sadness in view of the atrocities that took place in New Zealand where at least 49 people were killed during two Mosque shootings.  This is an anxious time for many and I understand that you would be concerned.

The threat level here remains at severe.  It is, however, important to understand that there is no specific intelligence to indicate an immediate threat against any location or individual within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This is continually reviewed by us and our partners.

Please advise everyone to be vigilant but not alarmed and to report any suspicious activity they may be aware of and any concerns that they may have, to the police via 101 and 999 in an emergency.

Furthermore, I would continue to urge you to encourage the reporting of any hate crime either directly to the police or, as you know, you can now also report such incidents indirectly via the online reporting links True Vision<http://report-it.org.uk/home>, Tell Mama<https://tellmamauk.org/>, CST<https://cst.org.uk/antisemitism/hate-crimes> or Galop<http://www.galop.org.uk/>.  There are also Third Party Reporting Centres across Hampshire who can offer support.

Please be assured of my continuing support for you and your communities.

Kind Regards,

Alison Heydari

District Commander,

Hampshire Constabulary lead for Hate Crime
