Thank you to Joan Fryer for getting in touch to let us know of the success of her two sons who attended Springfield.
In her email Joan writes: 'Thanks to the sheet metal work teacher at Springfield Comprehensive School in the late ‘70’s/’80’s, two of our sons Mike and Steve Fryer have reached their full potential in the aerospace industry. Both were design engineers on the Airbus A380 which only the world’s finest design engineers have been involved in. Mike our eldest son was a design engineer on the auxiliary power supply to the engines and Steve our youngest son (3 years between them) was a fuselage analyst. It may be that their metal work teacher would have been interested to have known that his good advice for them to apply for apprenticeships with Vosper Thornycroft (UK) Ltd (British Shipbuilding Group) in Portchester was the pathway to their future careers. Both Mike and Steve have reached their full potential as lead engineers in their own field ...'
