On Friday, 06 March, a group of female Sport Ambassadors from Springfield School took part in the Barclays Biggest Ever Girls’ Football Session at the John Jenkins Stadium. This nationwide initiative is designed to break down barriers to entry for young girls in sports, with the primary goal of encouraging as many primary school-aged girls as possible to get active and discover a passion for football.

The morning was packed with energy and skill development. Over 90 primary school girls attended the session, moving through a variety of stations designed to develop skills such as: passing, dribbling and shooting. The morning session finished by pupils applying what they learnt into some mini matches.

The success of the morning was largely due to the leadership of the Springfield Sport Ambassadors. Our students took full responsibility for:

1) Leading Activities: Explaining and demonstrating drills to the younger players.

2) Role models: Acting as positive role models and providing encouragement to those new to the sport.

3) Engagement: Ensuring every participant, regardless of ability level, was involved and having fun.

All ambassadors led with confidence and enthusiasm. They weren't just leaders for the morning session; they were role models to the younger pupils!

Well done to all the Springfield Sport Ambassadors involved - Daisy Althorpe, Molly Heazelton, Sopie Jelliff, Beth Jelliff, Amy Fletcher-Kilby, Eleanor Donachie, Ava Lunn, Pearl Joseph, Florence Radbourne and Evie Smith.
