In an exciting development for our Year 10 and Year 11 GCSE Drama students, members of the National Theatre supported by the Mayflower Theatre visited our school to host an interactive workshop on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. This captivating session followed the students' recent visit to the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton when they watched a performance of the critically acclaimed play, Dear England.

The workshop provided an invaluable opportunity for students to delve deeper into the play's themes through practical drama activities. Students engaged in exercises that encouraged them to explore what it means to be English and to understand the passionate reactions of fans to England's international football defeats. These activities not only enhanced the students' comprehension of the play but also allowed them to express their interpretations creatively.

The atmosphere of the workshop was both fun-filled and educational. With the guidance of professionals from the National Theatre, students were able to gain insights into dramatic techniques and enrich their understanding of complex themes. The hands-on approach ensured that every participant was actively engaged and inspired.

The visit from the National Theatre was an unforgettable experience for our GCSE Drama students, leaving them with a deeper appreciation for the art of drama and the cultural narratives explored in Dear England.
