GCSE English group 10C1 took part in an engaging session run by Biscoes Solicitors on Tuesday, 9 December 2025. This was part of the Employer Engagement Project, which aims to help young people make connections between their academic studies and the world of work. Year 10 students have been taught a GCSE English Language question that explores the perspectives and views of authors. This session aimed to show how lawyers use the same skills.
Kevin Richardson from Biscoes Solicitors gave an overview of his career path, the work undertaken by the firm and routes into law. Year 10 students were then given legal scenarios to consider, which involved disputes about property. They were able to identify that litigation could have been avoided through better communication between parties. They discussed their views of the cases and were then able to hear Kevin's thoughts based on his legal experience.
The session gave the class an insight into the relevance of GCSE English Language skills in workplace situations and legal careers.
Thank you so much to Biscoes Solicitors for visiting us and thank you to EBP South for organising the visit.
