On Thursday, 27 November Drama students visited the Mayflower Studios to see the performance of Lost Atoms by the Frantic Assembly Theatre Company.
Lost Atoms was an excellent opportunity to see Frantic Assembly Theatre Company in action. This is a group we study at GCSE and students often use their approaches as an inspiration in the devised work they create as part of their course. This production had challenging, thought provoking and emotional scenes revolving around the failed relationship of two people. The post show discussions of the students showed how they had engaged with the themes and the style of the performance so it was both entertaining and educational.
Mrs Needham, Head of Drama
Lost Atoms was incredible from the storyline, to the set, to the way the actors worked together. The story encompassed the struggles of a relationship and how this is affected by both everyday life and more serious issues such as grief and loss, as well as how love can continue even after the relationship has broken down. The story is told through the use of flashbacks as the characters are looking back on their time together and reminiscing about the good and the bad, both of which were often represented through the use of physical theatre which included lifts and exaggerated movements or sequences. The acting enveloped the audience into the story allowing them to feel the emotions being represented on the stage which made the performance emotional and memorable. Overall it was an excellent example of how life can play out and it was an incredible experience for those of us watching.
