Year 10 students participated in an engaging and informative Focus Day dedicated to exploring sexual health and relationships on Thursday, 27 November 2025.
Jo and Jason from Engendering Change delivered insightful talks about what a healthy sexual relationship is and combatting harmful narratives perpetuated by pornography, as well as understanding sexual health.
Representatives from Stop Domestic Abuse spoke to students about Domestic Abuse Awareness, teaching them how to recognise unhealthy behaviours in intimate relationships. The sessions also highlighted issues around stalking and harassment, online safety, and the support services available to young people.
Our staff led sessions covering the various forms of contraception available and their functions. Students also gained knowledge about sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including what they are, how they are transmitted, and the methods for testing and treatment.
Students also had the opportunity to explore an NHS resource, ‘Let's Talk About It’, which provides information on local sexual health services and addresses issues affecting young people.
Year 10 students should now have an increased awareness and understanding of sexual health and relationships so that they can recognise unhealthy behaviours, stay safe online and know where to go for support and advice.
Please be assured that our Focus Days are covered with an age-appropriate approach and that we have ground rules embedded as part of the sessions to ensure that they are seen as a safe space to ask questions, whilst ensuring the safeguarding of all.
