On Wednesday, 19 November, the Year 10 Boys Football Team produced a stunning performance in the second round of the Hampshire Cup against Kings School - the reigning champions and the team that knocked them out of the Cup last season. The team started strongly, defending with discipline and creating several chances, but the match remained goalless at half-time. Close, competitive games often require moments of brilliance, and that was certainly the case at the start of the second half, when Luke Causer scored an unbelievable goal from inside his own half straight from kick-off. He followed this with another outstanding long-range strike shortly afterwards, before completing his hat-trick midway through the half with yet another superb finish. The team’s determination didn’t stop there; a rapid late counterattack saw Jayden Deck race through on goal and show great composure to slot the ball past the goalkeeper, securing a 4-0 victory. What a game, and what an unbelievable performance from every pupil involved. Well done!
