On Friday, 07 November, a group of Year 10 pupils travelled to local apprenticeship and training provider PETA to work towards a 'Dragons' Den' competition. Working in teams of five, they were tasked with coming up with a product, which could be physical or an app, that 'solves one of modern life's challenges'.
After they had formed an idea, the day took the groups through different stages - planning for production, costings, advertising and promotion. We looked at logos of major companies and each group then designed their own logo for their product.
The Springfield groups will now work within their teams to make a video in which they will present their product. The videos from all local schools will be watched by PETA and five finalists will go on to meet a team of 'Dragons' from local businesses and defend their idea and plan.
The event offers valuable experience in enterprise activities and in preparing a video that showcases pupils' skills, something that companies can use in their application process.
