Springfield students have taken part in extended assemblies this week which have focused on anti-racism and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. The sessions, entitled 'Together We Shine', have been delivered by Koshita Shengamo, who is the Deputy Manager of a Portsmouth Youth Centre and works in the music industry. Kosh is a role model for local Community Interest Company (CIC) Politely Rebellious, who kindly arranged these sessions for the school, funded by AtkinsRealis. Kosh talked to students about the racism that he has encountered in his lifetime, what anti-racism is and how students can be an ally to those with protected characteristics. Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC was founded to create lasting change for young people. By combining lived experience, impactful role models, and data-driven strategies, they address the unique challenges faced by the youth in Portsmouth and beyond.
