This term, Year 8 students have learnt a new technique called needle felting in textiles. Over the past few weeks, they have made needle felted penguins with roving (a type of un-spun wool) and a needle. After completing the penguin, we had the option to customise it to show the diversity in our community. Some customisations include earmuffs, berets and even mohawks! We have really enjoyed this subject and we hope that this topic has encouraged our class to do GCSE textiles.

Mrs Goodship, Assistant Headteacher and Teacher of DT commented “This was such a fun project for the Year 8s. Once they got the hang of it, they could get excellent results really quickly so they had time personalise their penguins before taking them home.”
