During the summer holidays, the Historic Dockyard kindly hosted a celebration of the work Springfield School pupils created in creating ship signs, using traditional crafting methods such as crafting mahogany and rigging. Parents were invited to see their daughters' work on display in the upper gallery of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, alongside the figurehead from HMS Victory! After tea and cake, Springfield families toured the exhibition before being given a free annual pass to the Historic Dockyard. The Dockyard also kindly donated a set of tools to the school, for our Design and Technology department to use in lessons.
This lovely event was very special as a celebration of the achievements of pupils - it's not often that Year 9 students see their work in a National Museum. This also gave us a chance to thank the staff and volunteers from the Dockyard for the opportunity.
