Some of our Year 9 German students took part in an exciting competition to celebrate 75 years of twinning and friendship with Duisburg in Germany.  They were tasked with designing 'Duisburg 75' logos to mark the anniversary of the twinning.  We were delighted that two Springfield students were crowned the winners and on Monday, 7 July they attended an award ceremony at Portsmouth Central Library to meet the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and his counterpart from Duisburg. Amelie Allen (9E) and Roxanne Richardson (9E) were the overall winners of the Duisburg-Portsmouth Twinning Logo competition and were each presented with a book of Duisburg signed by the two mayors. Ashmika Sujith (9L) (pictured) and Emma Butcher (9L) were also awarded a prize for the best concept. The students had a wonderful time and were a credit to the school. The winning design was engraved on a silver salver and was presented to the Lord Mayor of Duisburg (Sören Link) has been gifted to Duisburg.

We are delighted to share some of the promotional articles celebrating the event:
