In the week leading up to the Silver DofE assessed expedition, an amber weather warning was issued for a heatwave by the Met Office. After some adjustments, agreed with the assessor, the group of seven Year 11 students met at school ready to begin their expedition. They started off in Denmead and walked through the picturesque villages of Hambledon and East Meon to reach the day one campsite. Day two saw the group navigate a circular walk taking in breathtaking views across the South Downs from Old Winchester Hill. Day 3 began with a jaunt to the top of Butser Hill, then Windmill hill and finished off at the Red Lion in Horndean with a refreshing glass of Pepsi. The group is the second silver group at Springfield who have completed their expedition and some are already talking about 'going for gold' when they get to college. Excellent efforts guys! Once the volunteering, physical and skills sections are completed they will be a step closer to visiting the palace to collect their gold awards.
