We are incredibly proud to share that Springfield School has been recognised as part of the ‘Portsmouth: The Digital City’ Inclusion Project. The project has received a Certificate of Excellence in the 2025 Pearson National Teaching Awards for Outstanding Contribution to SEND Education.
In partnership with Google for Education, Canopy for Education, and schools across Portsmouth, this initiative has been transformational in supporting our SEND, EAL and disadvantaged students. With access to Chromebooks including tools such as speech-to-text and text-to-speech, real and lasting improvements are being made in accessibility and engagement.
Here at Springfield, we have seen a difference:
- -Students who were previously disengaged are now confident and motivated
- -Students are reporting they are better able to access tasks with a high literacy demand.
- -Families are better supported in helping their children learn at home.
-
- This is not just about devices - it is about inclusion in action. We are thankful to be part of a project that is changing outcomes, opening doors and setting a powerful example of what is possible when digital tools are used with purpose and compassion. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this work - we are proud to be part of a city that is leading the way.
