In an inspiring venture into the world of digital design, our Year 8 Product Design students crafted personalised name tags using the innovative Tinkercad 3D modelling program. Tinkercad is a free, online 3D design and modelling tool. It is designed to be user-friendly and works by combining and cutting basic shapes to create new objects, and it allows users to move, adjust, and rotate shapes in 3D space. This project not only tested their creativity but also honed their technical skills, providing them with hands-on experience in modern design techniques.

The task was clear yet ambitious: to design and create unique name tags that reflect each student's individuality, all through the lens of 3D technology. The students were encouraged to push the boundaries of their imagination, exploring the vast potential of 3D modelling in a fun and educational setting.

With Tinkercad as their digital canvas, students learned to navigate the software's features, manipulating shapes and dimensions to bring their visions to life. Throughout the process, they experimented with various design elements, textures, and colours, ensuring each name tag was a true reflection of personal style.

Students showcased an impressive array of name tags, each piece a testament to their ingenuity and newfound skills in 3D modelling. From bold and modern designs to intricate and detailed creations, the diversity of the name tags highlighted the unique flair of each budding designer.

As technology continues to evolve, so too will the opportunities for our students to engage with it. This project marks just the beginning of their journey into the fascinating world of design and technology. We eagerly anticipate future projects and the incredible creations that our students will undoubtedly produce. Well done, Year 8!
