Year 11 students participated in a highly successful Focus Day today centered around the theme of finance. We were fortunate to have several experts join us to enlighten pupils on various financial topics.

HMRC's 'Tax Facts' Session
HMRC delivered an informative 'Tax Facts' session where students gained a clear understanding of what tax is, its importance, and the processes involved in calculating taxes.

Citizens Advice Bureau
We also welcomed representatives from the Citizens Advice Bureau. They guided pupils through the intricacies of bank statements, teaching them valuable budgeting skills. This session aimed to help students learn how to manage their finances effectively and live within their means.

Portsmouth University on Student Finance
Portsmouth University provided insights into student finance, addressing what financial support might be available for those considering university. This was particularly beneficial for students whose thoughts are beginning to turn towards higher education.

MyBnk's Interactive Workshop
MyBnk conducted an interactive workshop focusing on payslips, income, pay, and contributions. This hands-on session encouraged students to engage in discussions about financial literacy and personal income management.

Students also watched a thought-provoking film that explored the realities of zero-hours contracts and the potential challenges of accruing debt at a young age. This segment highlighted the importance of financial stability and the risks associated with irregular employment.

The Year 11 Focus Day was an enriching experience, providing students with essential knowledge and skills to navigate their financial futures confidently.
