During their Year 9 Geography lessons, students at Springfield School have undertaken an intriguing microclimate investigation on campus. On 27 January, students ventured into the blustery weather to gather vital data from five different sites around the school. The students diligently recorded information on temperature, wind speed, and cloud cover at each location.

Data Collection and Analysis 

Despite narrowly avoiding a thunderstorm and hail, class 9P1 successfully collected the necessary data, which is now ready for presentation and analysis. The goal is to determine whether distinct microclimates exist within the Springfield School grounds.

Educational Significance

Conducting this investigation provides GCSE students with valuable insight into the principles of fieldwork. It serves as excellent preparation for their upcoming compulsory field study in Southsea next year. Through this hands-on experience, students gain practical skills and an understanding of environmental patterns, enriching their geographical knowledge.
