During their computing lessons this term Year 8 students have been studying binary and how this number system is used within computers. On Monday, 9 December students explored how pixels are represented on our screens and the importance of resolution. They were then asked to design their own picture using 4 digit binary numbers which represented individual colours. Some excellent pictures were created across the year group, some examples of which are shown in the photo to the left.

Students can apply the knowledge they have gained during these lessons for various programming projects, such as creating graphics, designing user interfaces, or developing games.  This makes the learning process more relevant and exciting as we introduce essential concepts, and encourage both logical thinking and creativity, all of which are valuable skills in the digital age.
