Year 8 students have been experimenting with shapes and perspectives during their Art lessons this term. They designed their own cakes, with a slice missing, inspired by the American painter Wayne Thiebaud. Designs so far have ranged from pretty in pink to KFC Bucket buttercream. The biggest challenge students experienced when working with oil pastels to colour in their cakes was the blending of the colours to create a 3D effect. Lots of bright colours can be seen throughout their work, reflecting the bright personality of each student! Using oil pastels in art projects enhances students' artistic expression and ability to develop fine motor skills and improving concentration.
