'Wow!' was one reaction of many people after attending the recent Music Showcase held in the Music Department on Monday, 21 October.  All students in the school had been invited to put themselves forward to be involved and share an instrumental piece or song with a supportive audience, which was made up of friends, family and staff.  As well as demonstrating the amazing talents of Springfield students, the event helped GCSE students to gain confidence in preparing and presenting their coursework pieces. The event was warmly hosted by two Year 11 students, Sophie and Tim.  The variety of musical items included piano pieces, original compositions, heavy metal bass and drum kit pieces, a mbira solo, vocal duets and several emotional songs from musicals which brought quite a few tears to the eyes of the listeners!  Congratulations to all who took part and thank you to all who helped to support the event.

Mrs Latif, Head of Music

'I enjoyed the fact that we could perform in front of everyone, but it felt quite nervous when I waited to do my piece.'  (Max)

'The showcase was so fun and a good experience. It was good to be able to perform in front of parents/friends to show them our talents. I felt so happy to be able to stand in front of people and sing to them. I also very much enjoyed listening to other people's performances.' (Saffron)
'I think the showcase was very entertaining and fun. I liked that there were many different pieces being performed, each in a unique way.' (Emitis)
'I really enjoyed performing in front of an audience of not only my classmates but also the parents and friends of other students. I think all the performances went well and really showed everyone the skills of the music students and the variety of instruments that people can play. Although I was a little bit nervous leading up to my name being announced, when I sat down on the piano stool all the nerves went away and I tried my best. I think everyone did very well and I loved listening to other people's pieces.' (Aiden)
