On Thursday, 17 October, twelve Springfield male students attended an event called 'I-Construct 2024' which took place at CEMAST, Lee-on-the-Solent.  This interactive and skill-based event certainly challenged the participants but they rose to the task brilliantly.

Students were asked to interview a number of stakeholders who were present from various companies after which they were then asked to put together a presentation on the company that they felt offered the most to their employees based on the scenarios of building the Nightingale Hospital.

Each student was given a basic set of interview questions to use when interviewing their allocated stakeholders. The aim was to find out as much as possible about the different jobs roles within the stakeholder’s company within the scenario of building the Nightingale Hospital. The stakeholders who were interviewed by the students were aware of the basic questions that would be asked so that they could then award students extra presentation material if they probed deeper.  The extra presentation material could then be used by the students when developing their presentation. The students were finally put in front of an interviewing panel of judges and they presented their findings of the company which they felt offered the most to their employees. We were delighted to be part of this amazing event which was made possible by the organisation of Ms Burden - Lead for Aspiration and Enterprise.

This motivating and informative trip was beneficial to the students involved as it allowed to get an invaluable insight into the construction industry. Students gained a first-hand understanding of the types of job roles within the construction industry, they were engaged and presented themselves in a sensible, professional manner.  They enjoyed this engaging and informative experience. Exposure to successful connections with professionals who can offer guidance and support can be incredibly empowering and inspiring for boys who may envision themselves in similar roles.
