This term my ASDAN class spent some lessons looking at bias dice. The students discussed how they could make a dice biased by either weighting it down on one side, repeating a number on multiple sides or not having a cube. They made their own dice and then tested them to see if they were indeed biased.

This activity allowed the students to explore the idea of bias and fair dice. Looking at the expected results from a fair dice and their results from the made bias dice and decide if they had made them biased. Additionally, they looked at the 2D nets needed to create the 3D shapes. Furthermore, the conclusions made incorporated probability.

This was an enjoyable activity over three lessons that incorporated topics such as probability, expected and experimental, 3D solids and their nets and charts and graphs to display their results.
