We were thrilled to invite Steve Willis Training to Springfield on Thursday, 10 October to speak to Year 10 students about their apprenticeship training offer in gas/electric. The session began with trainer Adam informing students of how they can persue a career in the gas/electric/heating engineer industry and in particular apprenticeships with Steve Willis Training. The informative presentation by Adam included details of the type of salary and progression routes available and also how this sector of work may change with the need for more environmental ways of heating homes. Students then took part in a practical session involving a pipework exercise. Students were tasked with producing a frame, they used a diagram as reference and cut copper pipes to fit within clipped boards. Their work was then tested to 2 bar to see if the installation was sound.
Apprenticeships in plumbing and electrical fields offer numerous benefits for those entering the trade. Unlike traditional academic paths, apprenticeships provide hands-on experience that is invaluable for skill development. Both plumbing and electrical fields are essential services, ensuring a steady demand for skilled workers. As technology evolves, the need for knowledgeable professionals in these trades continues to grow.
The students involved engaged brilliantly with the session and showed fantastic team work and perseverance. We look forward to welcoming Steve Willis back next month.
