I adapted an end of term maths activity entitled 'The Pirate Game' to be an educational game which will enable students to learn the topic bearings during my Year 8 maths class.  I gave the class a brief instruction on bearings (a 3 digit degree and a magnitude) after which students had to find the correct position of the bearing and claim their squares property on a paper grid. The benefit of this lesson was that students were able to put into practice what they had learned about bearings in a fun way.  They are now confident in using bearings!
