Rehearsals are now in full swing for this year's school production which is making a welcome return after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. This year we are doing Matilda and have a cast of 41 from across the whole school. It is great to see so many Year 7s in the cast. As Matilda says, "Even if you're little you can do a lot." The cast are rehearsing three days a week after school singing, dancing and acting their socks off! We have double cast many of the main roles to enable a larger number of students to have the experience of playing a main role. This means we have to rehearse twice as much! We will be developing our performance over the coming weeks and hope to see you all at one of the four performances in February.

I am pleased to share some quotes from the cast members:

'I like a challenge, that's why I joined Matilda.' Esme Fitch-Ballard, 8L

'Mrs Wormwood is my first main role but I'm looking forward to doing it.'  Millie Baker, 8L

'I am really enjoying rehearsals and it's lots of fun learning all the songs and doing the scenes with all of the amazing cast.'  Emma Butcher, 7L

'This has been absolutely incredible so far and I can't wait to make more memories in different productions.  I am really excited to have got the role of Eric.  Everyone is so lovely and I couldn't wish for better cast mates.  My favourite part about all of this is everyone working together and having fun!'  Amelia Gofton, 9E

'For me personally it felt amazing.  At first I thought I was on my own, but I now know I am not alone and I have had so much fun, even on the tricky days.  It will take time, but we will get there. I couldn't be happier to be part of this performance.'  Darcie-Grace Greenwell, 10F

'Being part of this production our school is absolutely amazing.  Being cast as Rudolpho was the best thing ever!  The cast and director are wonderful and we've got each other's back all the time.' Lilah-Grace Willis, 8L

'I am loving the rehearsals and meeting all amazing pepole and actors.  Being cast as Matilda is such an opportunity and my double is so amazing, I can't wait to perform in front of our friends and family.'  Edie Davis, 8R
