On Thursday 26th April a group of our Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) students accompanied Ms Spivey and Mrs Whitelock to an event hosted by UTC Portsmouth. Schools from across the city attended and represented their DofE groups by showcasing some of their skills. Our students demonstrated their cake decorating skills as well as highlighting what we do at weekly training sessions. When the Earl of Wessex, the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and other dignitaries visited our stand, the students were able to demonstrate their skills, talk the guests through any questions they had and invited them to have a go at decorating the cakes. Most were too shy to take part but the Earl of Wessex finished off one of the cakes (the green and yellow 'Royal Duck') and the Lord Mayor attempted a Pompey crest. It was an interesting morning and the students represented Springfield very well.
