We were delighted to welcome the BAE Education Programme Roadshow to Springfield this morning. The audience of Year 8 pupils were mesmerised by the new technology that was demonstrated. With partners, the RAF and the Royal Navy, the roadshow is designed to enlighten pupils about the importance of Maths (and STEM subjects) in all aspects of present day life, helping them see the connection between what they study in school and the day to day applications in the real world.
The roadshow included some great 'It's a Numbers Game' themed demonstrations including a Maths based card trick, a chance to meet 'Mia' a 70cm high android robot who showed just how advanced robotics can be. Mia has features that are present in many of the products that BAE Systems manufacture. The pupils especially enjoyed the finale which was a demonstration of the wind force of a Paramotor. Mr Lomas, Head of Enterprise and PDL commented 'The powerful message of the importance of STEM subjects leading to major careers was reinforced by the BAE Educational Programme Roadshow team today.'
Thanks to the BAE Education Programme team for the great roadshow! For more information please visit their website:
