Open Evening 2023 (Year 5 and 6)

You are warmly invited to attend Springfield’s Open Evening on Thursday, 21 September during which you will be able to look around the school campus and meet students and staff.  There will also be the opportunity to attend a brief presentation which the Headteacher will lead with some of our current students.

Our Open Evening runs from 4pm to 7.30pm, with the Headteacher’s presentations taking place at 4.15pm, 5.15pm and 6.15pm.  If you would like to attend our Open Evening please register using the link below by Wednesday, 20 September.  You should then receive a confirmation email and further information about the event.  Kindly note that our Open Evening is always a busy event; as parking is limited, we advise families to walk to the school or use public transport, if possible.

If you would like to attend the open evening then you will need to register using the link below.  You should then receive a confirmation email.

Our Open Evening is undoubtedly the best way in which to find out more about the opportunities that Springfield has to offer.  However, if you are unable to attend the school will be offering Open Mornings on Tuesday 3, Wednesday, 4 and Thursday, 5 October 2023.  These will run from 10am to 11am and consist of a brief tour of the campus with a senior member of staff.  Places for the Open Mornings are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis; places are limited to two per family.  If you are unable to attend the Open Evening and would like to attend an Open Morning, please telephone Alison Norum, Marketing and Support Assistant, at the school to reserve your place as soon as possible.

Admissions Service

Admission to the school is managed by the Admissions Service of Portsmouth City Council, which is required to take part in a cross-border co-ordinated scheme for main round admissions. This allows parents to complete one application form from their home local authority, regardless of the school and the area in which they wish to apply for a place. This is known as a ‘Common Application Form’.

Please contact the Admissions Service directly for information regarding applying for a place at Springfield.

Portsmouth operates an ‘Equal Preference’ admissions scheme in line with government requirements. If the school is oversubscribed, applications will be considered first according to the following priorities in the order set out below:

  1. Children who are or have been looked after by a local authority.
  2. Children or families who have a significant medical, physical, psychological or social need.
  3. Children living within the school’s designated catchment area.

If the school cannot admit all applications from the catchment area, priorities (as defined in the Portsmouth City Council Admissions Policy) will be used.
