Springfield School is a founding member of The De Curci Trust, which was formed in April 2017. Being part of the Trust allows for greater collaborative working across different schools, notably with Springfield's feeder schools.

Springfield School is part of The De Curci Trust. The Trust delegates certain powers and responsibilities to the school’s Local Governing Body (LGB).

Springfield’s LGB makes decisions which are in the best interests of the young people in its care.

In summary, its role is to:

  • Continually review and assess the overall provision, development and effectiveness of the school.
  • Offer challenging and constructive support to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Assist with and review the implementation of certain delegated school policies, such as behaviour.
  • Act as a key link between The De Curci Trust and the broader Springfield School community.
  • Provide advice and information to the Trustees on the functioning of the school.

The Headteacher, who is also a Governor and Trustee, is responsible for the internal organisation, management and control of the school. The Local Governing Body acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the school and provides advice and positive support to the school’s leadership team.

Ofsted

Springfield School is inspected by Ofsted. The school's last inspection was conducted on 2-3 October 2019; the inspection confirmed that Springfield School is a good school. Ofsted wrote:

'Pupils are happy and safe at this school. They behave well in lessons and around the school. Pupils are nearly always kind and respectful towards each other and their teachers. They know that their teachers expect them to try their best, behave well and wear their uniform smartly. Pupils work hard in lessons and persevere with difficult work. Teachers ask them to think hard and answer difficult questions. Pupils achieve well at the school.'

Pupils Celebrate Results

GCSE Results 2024

Congratulations to our Year 11 students for their fantastic achievements in 2023/24!  This year group joined the school in the September of 2019/20, the first academic year affected by the disruption of the COVID19 pandemic. The 2-year transition to pre-pandemic GCSE grading is now complete, and so for this Year 11 cohort ‘normal’ grading arrangements have been in place. Our students have met these challenges ‘full on’, and the qualifications they have gained provide trustworthy evidence of their achievements at school of which they should all be very proud.

The school’s provisional results indicate a pleasing performance by the year group as a whole – up on last year - and some excellent individual achievements.  Notably, 73% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in an English GCSE and 66% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in the mathematics GCSE (grade 4 is the standard pass, approximately equivalent to the former grade C, and is the minimum entry requirement for the majority of A Level/Level 3 courses). 60% of the students achieved five or more GCSE passes including English and mathematics; and over a third of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above – approximately equivalent to the former grade B) in English and mathematics.  A particular ‘shout out’ to the Design and Technology and Religious Studies students for their excellent outcomes this year, with over 17% and 25% of each subject’s students respectively achieving a grade 8 or 9.  Overall, 119 of the highest grades (8/9) were achieved.
