Year 9 English students have been studying the short stories written by Sherlock Holmes. They have been inspired to produce detective fiction of their own.
To encourage the creative juices to flow Portsmouth Museum have kindly temporarily loaned us their Conan Doyle collection. Students have had their chance to handle artefacts from this great display.
Thanks to the H.L.F. Sharing Sherlock project!
The Soloman Theatre (specialists in communicating messages that result in crime reduction, improved community safety and the promotion of healthy schools and healthy lifestyles) presented a play to the Year 9s today entitled 'The Power of Love'. The play focussed on relationships, decisions based on these relationships, the consequences of these decisions and the impact of social media.
An hour long workshop followed the play where students were encouraged to debate the important issues raised. The pupils were engaged by an excellent production and follow up.

Each Geography class have had the opportunity to visit 4 different sites within the Meon Valley - Meon, Droxford, Wickham and Funtley as part of their GCSE Geography Controlled Assessment. Luckily the weather has held out and all trips have been successful - with the exception of a leak in Mrs Lawler's waders!
Congratulations to both of Springfield's girls' indoor cricket teams. The Under 13 and Under 15 teams made it to the Hampshire finals at the Ageas Bowl and both teams ended up coming 3rd on the day. This is the second year in a row that both age groups have made the finals and the fifth year in a row that Springfield has had at least one team in the finals. Well done girls!
Springfield pupils really pulled out all the stops for the show last night and put on a fantastic performance at Portsmouth Guildhall. Portsmouth Music Hub have had loads of feedback from parents via facebook, twitter and emails and it's great to hear how proud they were of their children and how much they enjoyed the show.
