Pupils from Year 7 enjoyed a day out sailing in Portsmouth Harbour on the Boleh sailing boat this week. They learned about the boat’s history, how to rig the boat ready for setting sail, and they even got a chance to steer it round the harbour! The weather was sunny with plenty of wind day which was perfect for sailing.

The Boleh is a 40 ft historic junk yacht which was built in Singapore by Malay shipwrights after World War II, the yacht arrived in Portsmouth in 2008 and was fully restored thanks to financing from the heritage Lottery Fund.  Boleh returned to the water in 2015 and his now a charitible working heritage vessel based in Portsmouth Harbour.  Boleh which means 'can do' in Malay sails young people and adults in the south coast of England.
